Ireland Rugby Giants are Happy to play Hosts

It looks like the Guinness could be flowing in Ireland again! Leinster and Munster have already secured home ties in the play-offs as we move into the final round of this year’s PRO12 on Sunday.

There’ll be a Welsh challenge with Scarlets qualifying and Ospreys in the box seat for the fourth spot. Betting odds have Leinster as favourites to lift the Trophy at 1.70, Munster at 2.50 and the Welsh outsiders at 11.00 (Scarlets) and 13.00 (Ospreys).

ROUND 22 SUNDAY:

Ulster vs Leinster

It’d take a brave rugby betting fan to back Ulster to beat leaders Leinster; but if you think they can and results go their way, an outright title win is a shot to nothing at 101.00! After a decent run, Ulster lost their last two games to Ospreys and Munster, while their last home game was a draw with Cardiff. But a second-half fight back against Ospreys last week shows they haven’t entirely given up.

Munster vs Connacht

Munster can afford to rest players when Connacht visit Limerick with the home play-off tie secured. But they will be without winger Ronan O‘Mahony for the rest of the season after he suffered a fractured fibula against Treviso. Connacht were in disarray in last week’s defeat to Scarlets.

Scarlets vs Ospreys

Thanks to Connacht, it was a lovely stroll into the playoffs for Scarlets with a bonus point 30-8 win. Ospreys won’t expect Ulster to slaughter the league leaders but will rest easier when their own place is secured. Their crucial win against Ulster last week ended a sequence of three defeats just in time. They’ll be up for finishing the job, but this is the fixture Welsh fans love and it could be an epic battle.

Glasgow vs Edinburgh

The 1872 Cup is always worth playing for, but that’s about it for the Scottish clubs after modest seasons north of the border. Glasgow came close to beating Leinster last week until a 74th-minute penalty, converted by Joey Carbery, gave the leaders a narrow 31-30 victory. With a 12-25 win in the December 1872 clash, it’s Glasgow’s to lose.

Zebre vs Treviso

And hey, there’s plenty at stake in Italy on Sunday when the bottom two clubs fight it out. But with 19 points each and just three behind Gwent Dragons, the tenth place is up for grabs! Both have two wins in the last four so it’s finely balanced, and home advantage could swing it Zebre’s way.

Dragons vs Cardiff Blues

The Dragons lost to Zebre in their unbroken sequence of eight defeats to allow the Italian clubs into the race for tenth, making the Newport fans desperate for the season to end. Seventh-placed Cardiff have won their last two. Will it be three in a row for the Blues and nine for the hapless Dragons?
