Stalemate in Madrid really is the Business for Barcelona!

These are the football games no-one wants to lose, but a draw in the Madrid Derby was just perfect for Barcelona, and Valencia, the big winners.

Barca is now ten points clear of the Madrid giants, and the strong favourite, with rapidly falling betting odds, to win La Liga. Even though Valencia is in second and six points clear, Los Blanco’s remain the clear second favourites with football betting fans, but they need to get moving quickly.

Atletico Madrid 0-0 Real Madrid

Cristiano Ronaldo and Antoine Griezmann continued their poor runs, failing to light up the Derby in front of a packed and passionate crowd. The Atletico man hasn’t scored in eight games, and it was Kevin Gameiro who came closest for Diego Simeone’s team, while Toni Kroos could have won it for Real.

Leganes 0-3 Barcelona

Meanwhile the Catalans continued their relentless march, thanks to a Luis Suarez double against Madrid’s other top flight team. Leganes is settling well in its second season at the top table and Barca had to work hard, Suarez breaking through on the half hour. Lionel Messi put in Paulinho for a late third.

RCD Espanyol 0-2 Valencia

Marcelino continues to work his magic at Valencia earning an eighth consecutive win in a hard fought match at Espanyol. The hosts had the better of the first half, hitting the woodwork twice, but a brilliant second half strike from Geoffrey Kondogbia paved the way for Valencia’s triumph, Santi Mina poaching a late second.

Sevilla 2-1 Celta Vigo

Sevilla is fifth thanks to its players using their heads to good effect, staying calm and coming back from a goal deficit after Maxi Gomez had put the visitors in front. Luis Muriel and Nolito headed Sevilla to three valuable points.

Athletic Bilbao 1-1 Villarreal

The in form Yellow Submarine could have been out of sight in Bilbao, when Manuel Trigueros put the visitors ahead. He’d already had a penalty saved, which proved costly, as Aritz Aduriz scored to send the home fans wild on 77 minutes.

Girona 1-1 Real Sociedad

Seventh placed Real Sociedad led for much of the game, in Girona, after Willian Jose had fired the visitors in front on seven minutes. But, after a difficult first half, Girona stuck to its task and reaped the reward mid way through the second when Portu crossed for Cristhian Stuani to head home.

Getafe 4-1 Alaves

Getafe is up to tenth while Alaves languishes at the bottom, joint with Las Palmas, following a convincing home win. Angel Rodriguez scored a second half brace after the hosts had gone in 2-0 at the break. Christian Santos scored a late consolation for the visitors… but they’re in big trouble.

Las Palmas 0-2 Levante

There are few sunny smiles in Gran Canaria after rock bottom Las Palmas slumped to another defeat at home. Second half strikes from Cheick Doukoure and Jason have lifted Levante up to 12th, while Las Palmas looks for inspiration.

Malaga 3-2 Deportivo La Coruna

Malaga is on the up after a brave fight back to win three crucial points at home to Deportivo. Roberto Rosales put the hosts in front, but goals from Lucas Perez and Fabian Schar gave Depor the advantage soon after half time. Chory Castro equalized to set up a grandstand finish with Borja Naston firing the winner on 84 minutes.

Eibar 5-0 Real Betis

Charles bagged a second half brace in this rout for Eibar who were 2-0 up at half time, thanks to a Gonzalo Escalante header and an own goal courtesy of Jordi Amat. The game was up for Betis when Aissa Mandi received his marching orders early in the second half to open the door for Charles. Sergi Enrich added a fifth as Eibar moves four points clear of the drop zone.
