Serie A: Torino’s Chance to Join the Party!

Torino vs AC Milan

AC Milan heads to the Stadio Olimpico Grande Torino on Sunday for a huge test in its campaign to bring Champions League football home for its supporters.

The passionate Rossoneri fans will swarm up to Turin for this crucial Serie A clash hoping they can get a result and preserve their top four place. But it’s mighty close at the top and seventh placed Torino can draw level with Milan with a win.

It Toro have exceeded expectations this season and, while they remain outsiders for Champions League qualification, they would certainly have accepted this position at the start of the season. Meanwhile the Rossoneri has been misfiring a little recently, and this clash represents a great chance for Torino to join the elite party.

Talking Points

Torino on the up

Eight points from four matches has lifted Walter Mazzarri’s team into contention, much to the surprise of many pundits in the Italian game. The Torino boss has put together a nicely balanced team, with a solid defence and a dangerous attacking threat. After a difficult period with injury, striker Andrea Belotti has had a new lease of life and has now hit 12 goals which place him in the top ten strikers in the league.

Meanwhile Il Toro has one of the meanest defences in the league and that’s some achievement in Serie A. In fact, only champions Juventus and third placed Inter Milan have conceded fewer. Wing back Cristian Ansaldi is a threat going forward too, scoring the winner in last week’s victory over Genoa.

Torino will be without the suspended Simone Zaza but midfield player Tomas Rincon adds real bite to this team, picking up 14 yellow cards so far this season…impressive!

Milan under pressure

AC Milan will be low on confidence when they take on Torino in Serie A after Coppa Italia elimination
AC Milan’s Krzysztof Piatek reacts during their match vs Lazio

The latest Serie A 2019 betting odds suggest Milan is still the favourite to take that fourth spot, but the Rossoneri is clinging on at the moment, ahead of fifth placed Atalanta only courtesy of a better head-to-head record this season. Defeat on Sunday would see their odds drift.

And they come into this clash with the disappointment of crashing out of the Coppa Italia in midweek, failing to beat Lazio. Gennaro Gattuso needs to keep his players calm and that won’t be easy in the Turin hotbed.

Milan has the firepower to stay in control of its own destiny. Krzysztof Piatek is in the race for the Capocannoniere and the Pole has been big Serie A 2019 news since his move from Genoa on a four and a half year deal. It’s been a great move for the Rossoneri and his goals could help them over the line.

The influential Suso has made nine assists so far and Piatek will rely on the gifted Spaniard for much of his supply. And Gattuso will be pleased to welcome Lucas Paqueta back from injury. The Brazilian attacking midfielder could also feature in Sunday’s match day squad.

The Rossoneri held its nerve to pull off a crucial 1-0 league win over Lazio thanks to a late Franck Kessie penalty two weeks ago, and that’s just the sort of composure Gattuso will be looking for in Turin.

History

The head to heads could hardly be more one-sided. Torino has only managed to beat Milan once in the last 33 meetings. But they have drawn 16 while the Rossoneri has picked up 16 victories.

More recently, the last four games have all been draws, two of the last three goalless, and so the latest SBOBET odds will make a prediction of a tight affair.

Torino has been stronger at home, unbeaten against Milan is the last five meetings and they have won six of the last eight home league matches.

And Milan will have to be at their best to breach Il Toro’s defence, which has conceded just 16 goals in 16 home games. The Rossoneri has failed to win any of its last three away games and has a modest away record this season, winning five, drawing seven and losing four.

Betting Tip

??
Torino vs AC Milan Under 2.25 goals @1.83
April 29, 02:30(GMT+8)

With Torino at 2.84 to win and Milan at 2.61 this match couldn’t be much closer to call. The draw is at 2.99 and that looks a likely outcome. Gattuso would be marginally the happier of the coaches with that result, but it could mean both teams losing ground, and I think they’ll both be aiming for a win in a tight game.

But in each case, four of their last five league games have yielded two goals or fewer, so a bet on the defences dominating makes a lot of sense.

A SHORT EXPLANATION ON HOW OUR (??) BETS ARE WORTH:
?? = €20 (Highly confident) ?? = €10 (CONFIDENT) ?? = €5 (SOMEWHAT CONFIDENT)
