Premier League: What’s on the “Big Six” Rumour Mill?

Two weeks since the window opened on June 14, numerous Premier League clubs have already started their routine haggling on players they have their eyes on to help them get over the hump next season.

Of course, the top six clubs will always have the lion’s share of attention when it comes to this news. Here are the current transfer rumours at this stage of the year for those with deeper pockets.

Manchester United

Last season was a complicated one for the Red Devils. Erik ten Hag had the team he wanted, yet finished way below expectations. Barring the FA Cup victory, it was a failed campaign.

Now that the new season is fast approaching, the Red Devils once again have in their sights talents to aid their ultimate cause.

According to Premier League 2024 updates, sources have confirmed United’s interest in key players, namely Joshua Zirkzee (Bologna), Amadou Onana (Everton), Lenny Yoro (Lille), and Manuel Ugarte (PSG).

All young players with high potential, just as Sir Jim Ratcliffe has intended.

Liverpool

As the new age dawns on them with Arne Slot, so do the transfer rumours. After finishing third last season, Liverpool are now focused on what lies ahead; as they should if they want to mount another title charge.

The latest news for the Reds involves both big names and promising youngsters: Joshua Kimmich (Bayern Munich), Rayan Ait-Nouri (Wolves), Rodrygo (Real Madrid), and Alvin Ayman (Wolves).

Kimmich is in his last year of contract with the Bavarian club, and there are signs pointing towards the fact that the partnership between the two has ended.

Meanwhile, Kylian Mbappe’s arrival means there’s more mouths to feed at Madrid’s frontline, and Rodrygo could very well look to greener pastures if need be.

Wolves’ Ait-Nouri and Ayman could help Liverpool in terms of depth and first-team quality, with the former a proven and versatile left-back, the latter, an exciting prospect to look out for.

Arsenal

Neck-and-neck with Manchester City, the Gunners had one hand on the trophy for the longest time right before it was snatched when Man City gained unstoppable momentum and never looked back.

As of late, the likes of Victor Osimhen (Napoli), Joshua Kimmich (Bayern), Joan Garcia (Espanyol), and Viktor Gyokeres (Sporting) have popped up as potential additions to the North London side.

Osimhen and Gyokeres are proven forwards who can help Arsenal hammer in goals next year.

Kimmich’s name will regularly feature in almost all the big clubs’ transfer lists, and Joan Garcia could provide a decent backup to David Raya, who took Aaron Ramsdale’s number one status last season.

Chelsea

With the hiring of yet another new coach, Enzo Maresca, the Blues look to aid him with players that can provide a challenge to their rivals.

Brazilian wonderkid Estevao Willian (Palmeiras) has already agreed to sign with the English giants for £56 million.

18-year-old Marc Guiu (Barcelona) is another done deal, as it was reported earlier that the teenage striker has already completed his medical and will be presented to the public anytime soon.

They will be joined by former Fulham centre-back Tosin Adarabioyo, who signed on a free transfer.

Tottenham

The Spurs’ season looked a tad weird last year, with star striker Harry Kane leaving for Germany. They also had a new boss, Ange Postecoglou, at the helm who would want his Spurs squad to get back into top-four contention.

Eberechi Eze heads the list of Postecoglou’s wishlist, with reports that Tottenham could activate the Crystal Palace star’s £60 million-release clause. The 25-year-old winger has proven his quality with 11 goals and four assists last season.

Youssouf Fofana (AS Monaco) is also another name that entices the North London side. Regarded for his versatility on the midfield, he could play a pivotal role to either help at the back or have a more involved role upfront.

Manchester City

The Premier League 2024 odds had them as favourites to win the title, and rightfully so.

Guardiola’s boys have always been loaded with quality, and their 10th Premier League trophy last season just goes to show they have seldom put a foot wrong in recent memory.

Still, in order to stay at the top, constant improvement is necessary.

A team of their calibre would want players who could make an immediate impact. Real Madrid’s Rodrygo is a viable option, with reports saying that Guardiola is looking for world-class wingers and forwards.

Reports also circulated that City could well ahead have Spain international Dani Olmo brought in. With a release clause of £60 million, Manchester City will find no problem splurging that amount of money.

If City can get their hands on their preferred targets, then there would be no question that they would top the SBOTOP odds for Premier League winners next season.
