Premier League: The Reds Traverse Through the Tricky Trees

The Reds will welcome the striving Nottingham Forest at Anfield with the goal of remaining in the top four of the Premier League. These clubs are no strangers with each other, with Liverpool dominating their head-to-head matchups.

Steve Cooper and the visiting squad are coming in with a handicap as they’re star forward Taiwo Awoniyi will remain sidelined against Liverpool, but no one can count the Sticky Trees out just yet.

Klopp on the other hand, is currently restructuring his midfield to cater better to his system. He already has a prime candidate in mind, but in the meantime, a battered but hungry Forest squad are knocking on their gates.

Liverpool eyeing Chelsea star to bolster their midfield

Chelsea aren’t bashful with their rebuilding, and they’ve been getting suitors left and right for their midfielder Conor Gallagher, and Klopp is definitely one of them. The Liverpool head coach has expressed his admiration for Gallagher as he plans to bolster Liverpool’s midfield.

Klopp’s club failed to fill the 25 maximum roster slots in their squad this year due to the lack of homegrown players they have and the departures of Nat Phillips, Jordan Henderson, James Milner, and Oxlade-Chamberlain. This forces the Reds to acquire more English players and add them to their squad, and Conor Gallagher is perfect to fit the bill.

Meanwhile, Liverpool are holding their own in the Premier League this campaign. They are clinging on to the fourth spot in a very tight league table with 20 points. Aston Villa are breathing down their neck, as the Villans are just a point below Liverpool.

They just came from a clash against Everton, where no one other than Mo Salah came to their rescue. The Egyptian Messi is once again having a spectacular season for Klopp and the team. He has already scored seven times in nine games in the Premier League and once in their Europa League campaign as well.

Salah and the rest of the Reds will host Toulouse for a Europa League skirmish before they welcome Nottingham Forest on the 29th.

Steve Cooper keeps the boat afloat as they for Awoniyi’s return

Taiwo Awoniyi has been a crucial piece for Nottingham Palace in recent years. Last season, he single-handedly carried the Sticky Trees and kept them alive in the Premier League by scoring six goals in their last four games. This season, the 24-year-old picked up where he left off with Premier League 2023 highlights as he scored three goals in Forest’s first three games.

The Nigerian recently suffered a groin injury, the same injury he sustained last year that kept him sidelined for two months. Head coach Steve Cooper is well aware of Awoniyi’s importance to the team and was quick to have his star’s back.

“We’ll get T into recovery and rehab as quick as we can. We’ll give every help we can give him, because we know his attitude will be great as he tries to get back with us as soon as possible.” Cooper said in the Nottingham Post.

Cooper remains confident that Awoniyi will return stronger and will have his feet under him in no time. “He’s been injured before and came back really strong, so he knows he can do it. He’ll commit to that.”

History

Liverpool have had Nottingham Forest’s number at Anfield for a few decades now. The Reds are unbeaten in their last 24 home stints in the Premier League against Nottingham Forest. They have won 19 of their last 24 games against the Tricky Trees and have settled for a draw five times. The last time Forest were successful against the Reds was way back in 1969, when the Sticky Trees humbled Liverpool with a 2-0 score line.

The Reds’ dominance at Anfield doesn’t just apply when Forest visit; they have been remarkable against the entire English top flight when playing at home. In the last 46 Premier League games, Liverpool have lost just once. It was against Leads back on October 29 of last year, but they have been spotless ever since, garnering 13 wins and three draws.

In recent form, Forest have yet to secure a victory in their last five league games. They have drawn their last three games before losing to the Sky Blues last month. Their last win was during their visit to Stamford Bridge on September 2, where they barely beat the developing Chelsea squad with a score line of 0-1.

Betting Tip

Nothing can guarantee that it will be a walk in the park for the home team when they host Forest, but the Premier League 2023 odds do suggest it. SBOTOP has Liverpool as the heavy favourites to come out as the winners in this matchup. The Reds are priced at 1.27 to win, which is a safe bet in my opinion, but there isn’t much excitement or that much value in that line. I won’t go against it, though.

Over 3.00 goals at 1.70 contain so much value given that the last four games between these two clubs in Anfield have produced 23 total goals, a whopping average of 5.8 per game.

Expect more of the same as the Reds are in form this season, who already have 20 goals in nine matches, while the visiting Nottingam Forest have accumulated nine goals in their campaign so far.

Another line to keep an eye on is Liverpool Asian HCP -1.50 at 1.76. I personally think that this line contains the most exciting among all offers for this match, as the surging Reds have been on a different level when playing at Anfield, especially against teams in the lower end of the league table.
