Leganes grabbed a valuable point in the Madrid minnows’ quest to win another season in the top division. Alexander Szymanowski gave the visitors a surprise lead on 30 minutes but Juanmi leveled to save Real’s blushes and take the hosts up to fifth.
Villarreal 2-3 Eibar
That was courtesy another loss for Villarreal following on from defeat to Las Palmas last time out. This time it was Eibar’s turn to sink the Yellow Submarine with goals from Pedro Leon, Kike and Takashu Inui.
Osasuna 1-2 Athletic Club
Athletic Club are just a point behind Villarreal and three ahead of Eibar after goals from Aritz Aduriz and Inaki Williams gave them an unassailable lead over bottom club Osasuna. Sergio Leon grabbed a consolation for the doomed hosts.
Espanyol 2-1 Real Betis
A late Jose Antonio Reyes winner completed a last gasp comeback for Espanyol having gone a goal down to a Ruben Castro penalty on 78 minutes. Javi Fuego hit the equaliser on 87 minutes before ex Arsenal man Reyes pounced on 90.
Celta Vigo 3-1 Las Palmas
We expected a home win in this last Week 29 game and Giuseppe Rossi delivered it single handed with a superb hat-trick. Pedro Bigas scored a consolation for the visitors who still haven’t got the hang of playing outside Gran Canaria.
Valencia 3-0 Deportivo La Coruna
Struggling Deportivo missed a penalty and had a goal ruled out; and that seemed to do the trick in awakening their sleepy hosts. Ezequiel Garay, an own goal and a late Joao Cancelo strike gave Valencia a first win in four.
