Classy Ronaldo Wins Big Football Games for Fun

And this was a whopper! A brilliant double strike by Real Madrid’s top man set his team on the way to a 0-3 win over a shell-shocked Juventus.

Cristiano Ronaldo has scored an incredible 14 goals in this Champions League campaign, and his second tonight was truly world class. And it all means the betting odds are stacked in Los Blancos favour of making the semi-finals. In the other of tonight’s games, we had an expected outcome, as Bayern made good the betting tips on an away win in Seville.

Juventus 0-3 Real Madrid

On a memorable night for Real fans, it took Ronaldo only three minutes to score, and I bet he couldn’t believe how easy it was. The Juve defence was uncharacteristically generous, allowing Isco plenty of space and time to cross for the unmarked Ronaldo to bag the opener. Juventus recovered well and almost leveled on 23 minutes when Paulo Dybala found Gonzalo Higuain who volleyed sweetly, but straight at Keylor Navas. In fairness, Juve had the best of the half, but Los Blancos came closest to adding to the score, Toni Kroos crashing the bar from 25 yards.

Ronaldo almost doubled the lead early in the second half but when he did, in spectacular fashion, his stunning overhead kick even had the Juve fans clapping. But it all turned sour for the Bianconeri when Paulo Dybala recklessly went in high in a tackle, to collect his second yellow and earn an early bath.

Marcelo added to Juve’s misery on 72 and I’d say, barring a miracle, Ronaldo and Los Blancos are through.

Sevilla 1-2 Bayern Munich

Bayern came from behind to take the initiative in Seville, though the hosts did take the game to their visitors and were rewarded in the 32nd minute when Pablo Sarabia shot home at the far post. But the lead lasted only five minutes thanks to a huge slice of luck for the Germans, the hapless Jesus Navas diverting a cross from Franck Ribery into his own net.

And it was Ribery the provider again, mid way through the second half, crossing superbly for Thiago to head home as Bayern comfortably held out for a first leg lead.
