Borussia Dortmund vs Borussia Monchengladbach
Borussia Dortmund and Bayern Munich continue to go back and forth in this season’s Bundesliga title race. And with only three matchdays left, every game is a must-win.
Both teams are in no mood to give up the chase, and they won in their previous assignments, as the Bavarian giants defeated Werder Bremen 2-1, while BVB got a timely win against VfL Wolfsburg with a 6-0 scoreline.
Bayern Munich, who currently lead by a single point in the standings, are set to take on Schalke at home on Friday, while Borussia Dortmund host Borussia Monchengladbach at Signal Iduna Park the day after.

Talking Points
BVB can win it all with Bellingham
There’s significant pressure on BVB to perform because they cannot afford to have anything less than a victory in these final few weeks of the 2022–23 campaign, or else Bayern Munich will be the champions once again.
So, even if two of their three remaining games are to be played at Signal Iduna Park, Borussia Dortmund must take care of business against three beatable teams (Gladbach, Augsburg, and Mainz).
BVB’s 6-0 win over VfL Wolfsburg was their biggest Bundesliga victory since February 2022, when they beat, you guessed it, Borussia Monchengladbach with the same exact scoreline. They have now won 10 consecutive home games, which is a club record within a single season.
Jude Bellingham and Karim Adeyemi scored twice for the Yellow Wall, while Donyell Malen and Sebastien Haller added one apiece. Bellingham is now the team’s leading scorer with 11 goals, and he has five assists.
Bellingham has so many suitors in the transfer market because of his age and his dominance in midfield, but his availability has sometimes been overlooked. So far this season, the English international has played the most Bundesliga minutes of any BVB player (2,603 minutes and counting).
Leading Borussia Dortmund to their first Bundesliga crown since the 2011-12 season is going to be his biggest achievement, and it’s the perfect parting gift from him as he’s likely to leave for Real Madrid this summer, according to reports.
Gladbach are undermanned up front
The prospects of breaching BVB’s backline, which has conceded just once in their last three games, look bleak as Borussia Monchengladbach are set to miss two of their key forwards.
Marcus Thuram may have already played his final game for the Foals, as he’s sidelined with a strained groin, while strike partner Alassane Plea was given a one-match suspension after picking up his fifth yellow card against VfL Bochum.
Thuram has recorded 13 goals and five assists, while Plea has two goals and nine assists.
Thuram and Plea won’t be available this weekend; therefore, Jonas Hofmann and team captain Lars Stindl will join 23-year-old Frenchman Nathan Ngoumou in the final third.
Stindl and Hofmann scored the winning goals against VfL Bochum last Saturday. The two of them have combined for 16 goals and 14 assists this campaign.
History
Borussia Dortmund have won 16 of their last 17 Bundesliga home games against Borussia Monchengladbach (L1), including each of their last nine, which is their longest winning streak at home against any current Bundesliga side. During that stretch, BVB scored 49 goals while conceding only nine.
Borussia Monchengladbach have only won one of their last 15 Bundesliga away games this season (D6, L8), which was a 4-1 result against Hoffenheim in January. Overall, the Foals have picked up just nine of their 39 points this season on the road, the second-lowest in the league.
However, the Foals have had BVB’s number in their recent head-to-heads, with three wins in their last four meetings (L1).
During their reverse fixture in November, Daniel Farke’s side won 4-2, where Jonas Hofmann, Ramy Bensebaini, Marcus Thuram, and Manu Kone netted for Gladbach, while Julian Brandt and Nico Schlotterbeck scored the consolation goals for Borussia Dortmund.
Betting Tip
The Bundesliga 2023 odds have Borussia Dortmund as the huge favourites to win this pivotal game because they’ll be playing at home. BVB are at 1.24, while Borussia Monchengladbach are the underdogs at 7.00, and a draw is at 6.40 in the 1X2 market.
But based on their recent meetings, we’re not necessarily confident that this is a sure-win for BVB, although we’re confident that this is going to be another cracker of a match full of Bundesliga 2023 highlights, making Over 3.50 at 1.72 a viable option.
