Bundesliga Preview: Bayern Face a Tough Challenge in Berlin!

Hertha Berlin vs Bayern Munich

If you want to find an exciting football league to watch and bet on, there’s no better league to check out than the Bundesliga!

The German top flight has always delivered top-quality games full of action and drama. There are always interesting storylines to talk about prior to the games, and the aftermath always leaves fans waiting with bated breath until the start of the next game.

The coming match between Hertha Berlin and Bayern Munich are also piquing the interest of fans. The buzz come from multiple angles.

Hertha Berlin’s superb start to the season hit a roadblock when they suffered a shocking loss away from home. However, Bayern Munich’s first dropped points of the season were the most surprising nugget of the midweek games. Nobody expected the mighty Bavarians to fall, but exhaustion does take a toll on the body.

Will Berlin be able to make use of the Olympiastadion crowd to pull off another superb upset? Or will Niko Kovac be able to pull his team through the rough patch they were on and get back on winning ways?

Talking Points

Javairo Dilrosun continues to impress in Bundesliga
Javairo Dilrosun celebrates scoring Hertha Berlin’s first goal with team mates

Many were surely surprised and fascinated with the way the Bayern-Augsburg game turned out. It’s probably amusing to fans that Felix Gotze, brother of former Bayern man Mario Gotze and academy product of the Bavarians, scored the late equaliser to deny the points from Bayern.

The tie interrupted an impressive five-game winning streak that saw the Bavarians score at least two strikes. However, it is important for all of us to remember that Kovac didn’t put out his strongest squad due to the tight schedule. Sandro Wagner started in place of Robert Lewandowski, and Mats Hummels was also taken off the starting XI.

There’s no reason to expect an immediate bounce-back from the Bavarians. There should be no reason for the Croatian gaffer to field his full-strength squad to play in the game. There’s no reason to expect a repeat of Bayern’s humiliation of Schalke if Lewandowski makes his start.

Hertha Berlin may not be the most intimidating opponents for Bayern this season, but the squad’s attacking unit is performing exceptionally well. They have almost the same goal count as Bayern, and it doesn’t seem like they’ll stop scoring any time soon.

It is definitely concerning that Hertha Berlin buckled against Werder Bremen to the tune of 3-1. We need to take this big loss with a grain of salt, though. They are undoubtedly better when playing in front of the home crowd, and their 4-2 triumph over Borussia Monchengladbach is proof of that.

Moreover, they have quality players that can match Bayern for every strike they make. Valentino Lazaro has become an important cog to their attack and defence since joining them for €7.50 million in the summer. Vedad Ibisevic is finding the back of the net while Rune Jarstein started the season with a sublime defensive performance against Nuernberg.

Javairo Dilrosun is also a coup of an acquisition for Pal Dardai. The Manchester City academy product, who came to the club on a free transfer, has made a splash in his maiden voyage at German football. The 20-year-old winger has scored twice and supplied for three more, making him the highest-rated player among the Blue-Whites after only three appearances this season.

He is the biggest Bundesliga 2018 news for the supporters of Berlin, and they will hope that he will work his magic against the indomitable Bayern Munich.

History

The head-to-head history between the two of them aren’t the prettiest to look at, and the odds definitely favour the visitors.

They have played 64 games, and Bayern won 37 of those games. A good deal of those games was won at home, with only 12 games snatched on away games. Meanwhile, Berlin have gotten six wins and 14 draws in front of their home fans.

While Munich are completely overwhelming Berlin, it is interesting to see the last three games the two sides played out. The first draw was a 1-1 split at the Olympiastadion. The second one was 2-2 at the same venue. The most impressive draw is the most recent one in February, where Berlin managed to hold the Bavarians to a goalless draw at the Allianz Arena. Moreover, they did that against a full-strength Bayern side.

Betting Tip

??
Hertha Berlin vs Bayern Munich Hertha Berlin +1.75 @ 1.83
September 29, 02:30 (GMT+8)

The Hertha Berlin vs Bayern Munich odds point towards a win for the visitors, but I ask that the SBOBET Bundesliga 2018 fans consider a punt for the Blue-Whites.

Berlin have the talent to at least go toe-to-toe with the German top flight’s strongest colossus. With Ibisevic and Dilrosun starting the season on fire, there should be no reason for both teams to at least find the back of the net.

I predict that Bayern should be able to score at least two goals, but Berlin should be able to sneak in a strike to keep the contest close. I am also not putting an upset out of the question as Kovac’s final XI prior to the start of the match can determine the outcome.

If Lewandowski and company play in their full strength, there is no question of a Bayern victory. However, I don’t think Berlin will be afraid at all. They should be able to keep up with the league leaders in the scoring department.
