Bundesliga: Bayern’s Title Rush Won’t Wait for Fortuna!

Bayern Munich vs Fortuna Dusseldorf

With six games remaining, and after an explosive return to football, FC Bayern are on the march to their eighth successive Bundesliga title.

An empty Allianz Arena area will host Bundesliga; FC Bayern vs Fortuna on Saturday evening, and you can catch up with all the action here at SBOBET football, as Die Bayern look to maintain their seven point lead at the top of the table. Visitors Fortuna Dusseldorf, in their second season back in the top flight, are in deep relegation trouble, and that is unlikely to ease any as the Bayern bandwagon rolls on.

Talking Points

Victory over Dortmund opens the door for Bayern

The odds on Hansi Flick’s chances of steering Die Bayern to an eighth consecutive title were dramatically slashed on Tuesday night when they beat their biggest rivals to extend their lead to seven points. Victory over Borussia Dortmund was a huge result. Defeat would have blown the title wide open with the gap down to a single point and Borussia with a favourable run-in. Even a draw would have kept the race alive, but it would now take a dramatic turnaround in Bayern’s form, three bad results from six games, and current form suggests that’s a long, long shot.

When Joshua Kimmich’s delightful chip sailed into the net, just before the break, the Bayern players celebrated as if they believed they’d won something; and they probably have.

It was a clinical performance, and Bayern’s 5-2 win over Eintracht Frankfurt the previous week displayed the other side of the champions’ game. Flick’s men can score at will, and they are the top scorers in the league with 81 goals, but they have also conceded the fewest at 28.

Fortuna breathe a little easier after crucial win

Uwe Rosler’s Fortuna Dusseldorf is in a relegation scrap, occupying the 16th position which leads to a play-off. But their worries were eased slightly on Wednesday night as they ended a run of four straight draws with a win at home to Schalke. When Weston McKennie gave Schalke a lead early in the second half Fortuna responded brilliantly.

Former Burnley striker Rouwen Hennings scored his 12th goal of the season to draw the hosts level, once a nervy VAR check had allowed his effort to stand. Then Erik Thommy, who has made five assists this season, crossed for Kenan Karaman to head in the winner.

Hennings could be the man to fire Fortuna to safety as they have moved five points above Werder Bremen and just a single point behind Mainz in the safety spot. With Eintracht Frankfurt just one more point further ahead Fortuna have two teams clearly in their sights.

The victory over Schalke was only Dusseldorf’s sixth win of the season. They probably need another two or three to survive, but will have to wait until after Saturday.

With Dawid Kownacki and Zack Steffen unavailable, Rosler is likely to name an unchanged side to face the league leaders.

History

The head to head FC Bayern vs Fortuna Dortmund results don’t offer Fortuna much comfort. In the 12 meetings between these two teams since 1995, Bayern have won 10 and there have been two draws with the underdogs yet to win.

In November Die Bayern swept Fortuna aside in their own back yard with a 0-4 destruction of their hosts. Benjamin Pavard opened the floodgates before Corentin Tolisso and Serge Gnabry put Bayern three up at the break. Philippe Coutinho added a fourth, though he is unavailable to play in this return match. And the game was remarkable in that Robert Lewandowski failed to score for the first time in 12 matches.

Fortuna did well in their last visit to the Allianz Arena though. They earned a 3-3 draw early in the 2018/19 season, when Dodi Lukebakio scored a hat-trick, including an injury time equaliser. It was a result which left Bayern nine points behind Borussia Dortmund in the table, but as we know they clawed that deficit back by the season finale.

Bayern’s form is ominous again; while Dusseldorf’s win over Schalke was a first in six games, the Bavarians are on a winning streak of nine.

Betting Tip

??
Bayern Munich vs Fortuna Dusseldorf First Half Over 1.75 Goals @ 1.95
May 31, 00:30 (GMT+8)

When you take a look at the betting odds of Bayern at 1.07 to win, the draw at 12.52 and Fortuna at 15.88 to spring a surprise, it’s clear the FC Bayern vs Fortuna Dortmund predictions could become a little predictable if we play it too safe.

Well, I’m going to play it fairly safe, and I think 1.98 on two goals or more in the first half is good value.

4 to 6 goals is at odds of 1.76, and I can see Bayern hitting Fortuna as early as they did in Dusseldorf.

A SHORT EXPLANATION ON HOW OUR (??) BETS ARE WORTH:
?? = €20 (Highly confident) ?? = €10 (CONFIDENT) ?? = €5 (SOMEWHAT CONFIDENT)
