The Pelicans may have lost against the Wizards, but the level of production from Anthony Davis and DeMarcus Cousins is encouraging. They should be able to cruise past the Orlando Magic as the status of their two main cannons is still uncertain.
Washington Wizards @ Brooklyn Nets (December 23, 8:30 GMT+8)
It’s easy to assume that the Net will get steamrolled in this game, given the absence of D’Angelo Russell and Jeremy Lin. However, the Nets did beat a John Wall-less Wizards with great team basketball. I don’t think John Wall would allow that to happen again, but we’ll never know what happens until the final buzzer sounds.
I still think the Wizards are the team to beat, so put your money on Washington -5.50 @ 1.97.
Dallas Mavericks @ Miami Heat (December 23, 9:00 GMT+8)
The Miami Heat are managing to get things going without Goran Dragic and Hassan Whiteside. Meanwhile, Dallas snapped a three-game slide with a resounding win over Detroit. This should be an interesting watch, but the Mavs will likely struggle.
Los Angeles Clippers @ Houston Rockets (December 23, 9:00 GMT+8)
The Rockets were given a shock loss by the Los Angeles Lakers, but I’m sure James Harden and Chris Paul will bounce back. They should make quick work of a Clipper team that’s without Danilo Gallinari and Blake Griffin. If you’re punting this game, don’t hesitate to throw your betting money to Houston’s -11.50 Asian handicap for 1.95.
Charlotte Hornets @ Milwaukee Bucks (December 23, 9:00 GMT+8)
Giannis Antetokounmpo continues to shine as he led his Milwaukee Bucks past a rampaging LeBron James to curb their losing streak. With their star man in red-hot form, the Bucks should have no problem dispatching the Charlotte Hornets at home. Milwaukee -5.50 @ 2.02 will net big winnings.
Atlanta Hawks @ Oklahoma City Thunder (December 23, 9:00 GMT+8)
Atlanta perform reasonably well on the road and should be able to fight toe-to-toe with the OKC Thunder. However, their odds of winning hinges on Dennis Schroder’s health. If their star point guard is deemed unfit to suit up, they will be facing a huge problem named Russell Westbrook.
Denver Nuggets @ Portland Trail Blazers (December 23, 11:00 GMT+8)
Damian Lillard won’t be suiting up against the Nuggets, and that is something that will hurt the Trail Blazers. They will be missing out on a sure 24 points, something that could help them keep the free-passing Nikola Jokic at bay. Fortunately for them, Garry Harris will be coming back from a knock on his elbow and won’t be at full-strength.
Los Angeles Lakers @ Golden State Warriors (December 23, 11:30 GMT+8)
This battle between Golden State and the Purple and Gold is what intrigues me the most.
Sure, they may be situated on opposite sides of the conference table, but the Lakers have given the Warriors a hard time during their last two meetings. It’s also hard to forget the slam dunk Larry Nance Jr. unleashed on Kevin Durant.
I still think the Warriors will win this game easily, but the Lakers should be able to make KD rage for a minute or two.
