The East is (L)eastern conference no more! And the Raptors, Pacers, Sixers and Knicks will aim to prove that to sports betting fans when they step on the NBA hardwood this Monday.
Toronto and Indiana are particularly appealing to watch, with the former establishing themselves as one of the online gambling favourites and the latter coming off a win over the Cavs and continuing to surprise betting odds.
Toronto Raptors @ Sacramento Kings (December 11, 04:30 GMT+8)
Despite being overshadowed by the Celtics, there’s no doubt that Toronto are one of the top contenders out East. They have won their last five and have been phenomenal offensively behind DeMar DeRozan and Kyle Lowry.
Sacramento have shown some bite in their recent games, but the fact that they are one of the bottom teams in both offensive and defensive ratings is worrisome. If you’re punting, choose Toronto -7.50 @ 1.99.
Boston Celtics @ Detroit Pistons (December 11, 05:00 GMT+8)
Detroit were just behind Boston in second place last month, but five straight losses dropped them all the way down to seventh. The good news for them in this game, however, is that they did beat the Beantown team a couple of weeks ago.
Playing at home should also give the Pistons some edge, so I think this one will be close. Go for Detroit +1.50 @ 1.88.
Denver Nuggets @ Indiana Pacers (December 11, 06:00 GMT+8)
After snapping Cleveland’s winning streak to grab their third straight victory, the confident Pacers are unlikely to be stopped. Victor Oladipo has been clutch for them, and he will surely be pivotal for Indiana once again when they take on Denver.
Not that the Nuggets will pose much of a challenge though as Nikola Jokic and Paul Millsap remain sidelined due to injuries.
Dallas Mavericks @ Minnesota Timberwolves (December 11, 08:00 GMT+8)
Minnesota already beat Dallas twice this season, so it’s difficult to see the Mavericks turning the tables this time. Sure enough, the Wolves have a tendency to collapse down the stretch, but it shouldn’t be a big problem against a team that doesn’t have much to offer offensively. Choose Minnesota -8.50 @ 2.00.
Philadelphia 76ers @ New Orleans Pelicans (December 11, 08:00 GMT+8)
The Sixers lost three in a row now, but they will have their hopes up with Joel Embiid rested after sitting out against the Cavaliers. Although New Orleans’ twin tower of Anthony Davis and DeMarcus Cousins will make life hard for the Sixers, their defensive inconsistencies—as seen in their match with Sacramento—remain an issue.
Atlanta Hawks @ New York Knicks (December 11, 08:30 GMT+8)
Following their road loss to the Bulls, the Knicks will be happy to return home and host the Hawks. New York lost to Atlanta last month, but they should have some advantage with Dewayne Dedmon out for the Hawks while John Collins and Mike Muscala are questionable.
The absence of Atlanta’s top big men should give Kristaps Porzingis more space to dominate, so pick the Knickerbockers -6.00 @ 2.00.
