Chelsea vs Burnley (August 12, 22:00 GMT+8)
Chelsea fans are looking forward to seeing Alvaro Morata as a natural, and altogether more pleasant, replacement for Diego Costa, and they have a good chance to begin their title defence with a win. Burnley will take on the new season with their usual fearlessness and have strengthened with the Premier League nous of Jack Cork and Jon Walters. While the Clarets held the Champions at Turf Moor last year, the corresponding fixture at the Bridge yielded an early-season 3-0 home win.
I can see a 2-0 here, or maybe even 2-1, so for a 🌟🌟 bet I’m picking 2-3 goals at odds of 2.08.
Newcastle United vs Tottenham Hotspur (August 13, 20:30 GMT+8)
This Sunday fixture is a top-flight classic, but I have a nagging feeling these two teams will have a testing season at either end of the table. The newly promoted Magpies have high expectations but still lack the quality they need, while Spurs fans must be wondering whether more players are set to follow Kyle Walker through the exit door, with Danny Rose rumoured to be considering a move.
Harry Kane’s still at the Lane though; so for a 🌟🌟 bet at odds of 1.81 I’m going for over 2.5 goals.
