Nonetheless, the issue for Bertens is her consistency. The in-form Halep is tough to break especially from the baseline while her defensive skills make her a more formidable foe.
Bertens could try to play on the edge to have a chance, but I doubt she’s capable of keeping it up. With that said, Halep should be able to beat an Asian Handicap -1.50 that pays at 1.88.
Garbiñe Muguruza vs Elina Svitolina
These two have played a close fight in Indian Wells this year; and as they renew hostilities in Rome, their battle should provide another thriller.
Both players are coming off of great wins, with Muguruza sending Venus Williams packaging in the quarterfinals and Svitolina upsetting second-seeded Karolina Pliskova.
Muguruza holds a 3-2 head-to-head record against Svitolina, and that will boost her confidence as she also won their latest meeting. However, it won’t be wise to write off the Ukrainian. Not with her three titles this 2017.
Svitolina’s level and mentality should give her the edge – she’s one of the most consistent tour players in this campaign after all. It should also help her that Muguruza’s form is questionable considering that she entered this tournament in poor form after losing three matches in a row.
Although this one should end up tight, Svitolina on Asian Handicap -1.50 @ 2.92 seems to be the best choice.
