International Friendly:  Can Brazil Keep the Ball Rolling Against La Roja?

The football world will once again be treated to an International Friendly of the highest billing as Spain play host to Brazil at Santiago Bernabéu Stadium.

Brazil will march to Madrid with a bounce to their step thanks to Endrick’s late winner against England. Newly appointed head coach Dorival Junior is on a mission to bring football glory back to Brazil, and a pivotal win against the scoring La Roja after defeating England at Wembley just might do the trick.

Meanwhile, Spain’s winning streak was put to an end by an inspired Colombian outfit at London Stadium a few days ago. Luis de la Fuente is still in the process of cementing his starting XI for Euro 2024 in Germany and has been tinkering with his starting roster as of late.

Their recent defeat against Colombia shouldn’t stir any panic for the Spanish side, but they need to quickly gain traction as they face a rejuvenated Brazil outfit this Wednesday.

Endrick delivers late for Brazil

It was a prestigious international friendly between the two most influential nations in the sport of football. England played host to the young Brazil squad at Wembley for the first of their scraps during this international window.

The anticipation for this sought-after matchup was overlooked because of all the fuss over the new design of the new England kit, which is a head scratcher to say the least, but it was all business when the whistle sounded.

Both clubs were eager to garner winning International Friendly 2024 results during this window, as both England and Brazil are two of the favourites to enter the upcoming Euro 2024 in Germany, and to gather a win against possible adversaries will be a huge advantage moving forward.

England were not in full strength; as pivotal players were sidelined due to injuries. Names like Bukayo Saka, Luke Shaw, and captain Harry Kane, England’s big three, were not in uniform against Brazil, but England still managed to keep a competitive form and gave Brazil a proper opposition.

It was a stalemate for most of the match, but it was 17-year-old Endrick who gave Brazil the win against their European rivals. It took both outfits 80 minutes before the ball found the back of the net, and luckily for the Brazilians, it was Endrick on the other side of the strike.

The young Brazilian prospect not only scored the winning goal for his nation, but he also rewrote Wembley history, becoming the youngest player to record a goal for club or country at the historic stadium at just 17 years and 246 days.

Spain’s winning streak snapped by Colombia

Spain were on a six-game winning streak entering their friendly tie against Colombia at London Stadium. Luis de la Fuente and his outfit blazed through the European Championship qualifiers and emerged as the winners of Group A with a 7-0-1 record.

The Spaniards hoped to keep the ball rolling during this international window and blaze through Colombia and Brazil with ease, but they were immediately halted by Daniel Muñoz and the rest of Los Cafeteros.

This marks De la Fuente’s second loss since taking the Spain senior job at the start of 2024, and he is very confident that his outfit will bounce back during their upcoming tie against Brazil.

“We wanted to test some things and see how certain players performed, but we keep working and improving.” De la Fuente stated.

“The debutants all have great futures, and we need them to have the opportunity in these games so that when we play for points, they already have experience.”

La Roja, like many other national outfits, are still in the middle of mixing and matching their starting lineup for the upcoming Euro 2024 in June. So even though they suffered a stunning loss to Colombia, expect de la Fuente to keep experimenting with his deep pool of talent for their impending tie with Brazil.

History

Over the last decade, these historic outfits have only locked horns twice. In those games, Brazil managed to win both games with a total score of 4-0 on aggregate.

In recent form, Spain have been the hottest team in the world, boasting a 7-1-2 record in their last 10 and having championed their cluster in the Euro 2024 qualifiers.

Meanwhile, Brazil have snapped their three-game losing streak thanks to a win at Wembley against the Three Lions. The Brazilians have a 4-1-5 record in their last 10, but their recent win against England can certainly trend them in the right direction moving forward.

Betting Tip

Despite their recent fumble against Colombia, Spain are still the slight favourites at the SBOTOP International Friendly 2024 betting odds with a price of 2.11, while Brazil are right there with a price of 2.96 and 3.02 to tally a draw.

It’s too close to call in terms of who will come out as the victors in this friendly, and it will probably come down to personal preference if you ask me. Both clubs are showing tremendous form and promise as of late, and to count either club out will be a tough task for any analyst.

A good line to ponder is the middle line of their total goals, specifically under 2.25 at 1.97. During the international window, Spain have yet to find the back of the net, while Brazil have only scored once thanks to the heroics of Endrick. This is why I personally don’t think that this upcoming match will end with a high aggregate. Plus, these teams are well-matched, and it’s hard to imagine one team scoring a bunch of goals over the other.
