Bundesliga: Der Klassiker Winners will be Number One

Borussia Dortmund vs Bayern Munich

The Yellow Wall will be bouncing on Saturday night when the Bundesliga match of the weekend pits Borussia Dortmund against their big rivals Bayern Munich.

And the outcome of this mammoth clash at the Signal Iduna Park will determine who sits at the top of the league table going into next week. Die Bayern currently hold the top spot, but Dortmund have kept up the pace and are a single point behind.

These are the two teams set to contend the German title this season at SBOTOP odds of 1.07 for Bayern and 5.80 for BVB. Third-placed Bayer Leverkusen are at 81.00 and RB Leipzig are out at 201.00.

Will the Bundesliga 2021 betting odds take a big shift if Die Schwarzgelben manage to beat Die Bayern? Not a game-changing adjustment, but there will be a move nevertheless.

There is very little to choose between the two teams as both have won 10 league matches. But while BVB lost the other three, Bayern Munich have drawn one and lost two.

Dortmund arrive on the back of an impressive 3-1 win away to Wolfsburg while Bayern Munich did enough to beat Arminia Bielefeld by 1-0 at the Allianz Arena. But the champions will need to take a step up to take all three points from their closest rivals.

Talking Points

Haaland desperate to play

While they have toiled in the Champions League, Dortmund’s Bundesliga 2021 results have been strong particularly when you consider their best player has been sidelined for almost half of the league season.

Die Schwarzgelben have been without top scorer Erling Braut Haaland for the last few weeks, but he announced his return with a goal in BVB’s well-crafted victory over Wolfsburg.

With 10 goals from seven games, the giant Norwegian is a prolific scorer and head coach Marco Rose knows that his title chances rest on the striker remaining fit for the rest of the season.

He will be wary of over-stretching Haaland so soon after his return. It was feared his hip injury could keep him out until Christmas, so his re-appearance was an early present for the Yellow Wall faithful.

And Haaland wants to play every minute in Der Klassiker and not be relegated to the bench as club doctors have advised. He’s been out in extra training to convince his boss to start him.

Captain Marco Reus has four goals and has led the team with authority again this season, and he would love nothing more than to win the Bundesliga for his beloved club.

And there may be more good news for the team as young midfielder Gio Reyna has returned to training for the first time in three months having suffered a hamstring injury, missing 10 Bundesliga matches.

Meanwhile, Thorgan Hazard missed the Wolfsburg game with COVID and he’s set to sit this one out too, which means that Dutch forward Donyell Malen is a candidate to drop to the bench if Haaland makes a start.

Stop Lewi and Muller and you can beat Bayern

In his first season as boss of Die Bayern, Julian Nagelsmann has enjoyed a good start. His team is top of the domestic league while his former club RB Leipzig is languishing in eighth after losing to Bayer Leverkusen last week. And the Bavarians have flown through their Champions League group, winning all five in a group containing Barcelona.

When he took the job, Nagelsmann knew there was one factor which gives Bayern an edge over the rest – which is the partnership of Robert Lewandowski and Thomas Muller.

Thomas Muller has now scored four goals in 13 Bundesliga matches
Thomas Muller has made 11 assists already this season

At 33 and 32, Lewandowski and Muller are almost as old as their boss, who at  34 has already had five seasons under his belt as a head coach.

But these men have been at the top of their game for over a decade and they show no signs of slowing down. With 14 goals from 13 games, Lewandowski is the man to beat in the race for the Golden Boot, and he was unlucky to miss out on the 2021 Ballon d’Or to Lionel Messi.

The lethal Pole has long worked with Muller with devastating results and the German target man is a selfless assister once again with 11 to his name already in this campaign.

Of course Bayern have more threats in their armoury, with Serge Gnabry already bagging six goals and Leroy Sane was on the mark in the victory over Bielefeld.

But in their last Bundesliga fixture on the road they fell to a shock 2-1 defeat at the hands of Augsburg. Though Lewandowski was on the score sheet, they limited him to one.

The Bavarians fully expected to beat Augsburg but they won’t be quite so certain when they enter the Signal Iduna Park.

History

In terms of head-to-heads, Bayern have been on top winning 41 of the last 76 meetings, losing 19, and there have been 16 draws.

In fact, Die Bayern have won the last six encounters, most recently 3-1 in the August Super Cup. Then last season, they triumphed 4-2 in Munich to complete a league double following a 3-2 win in Dortmund in November 2020.

Betting Tip

??
Borussia Dortmund vs Bayern Munich Double Chance Borussia Dortmund or Draw @ 1.84
December 05, 01:30 (GMT+8)

At a price of 1.84, the Bavarians are slightly odds on while BVB are at 3.25 with the draw is available at 4.07. Whether Dortmund can seize top spot I’m not certain, but I think they can continue to run stride by stride with the leaders, particularly if Haaland is 100-per cent.

A SHORT EXPLANATION ON HOW OUR (??) BETS ARE WORTH:
?? = €20 (Highly confident) ?? = €10 (CONFIDENT) ?? = €5 (SOMEWHAT CONFIDENT)
